I don’t take a lot of pics of my back but I made this pic and I loved it. I was not sure if it was okay to blog it though so I asked my sweet plurk friends and they all said it was bloggable, so I listened and blogged it. I hope you all like it. Now that we are talking about Plurk friends, I wanted to thank them all! A lot of you helped me a lot through some rough times and insecurities. But I also had a lot of laughs and fun times and good talks there! So I just wanted to let you all know that you all mean a lot to me and I love you all!!!

I was recently told the Sim I had lived on for a year and a half was going to go away, but thanks to my persistent neighbor Maeve all is well. Maeve put the news out there and found a buyer for our lovely Inquisitive Minds Sim. The new owner Amari Maven squared up my long narrow strip of land, and I went for a whole new look, including a fresh house! With all the newness, I purchased all fresh landscaping elements, and I have fallen head over heels in love with Alirium!! The display area on the Alirium Sim is nothing short of genius!! My parcel looks amazing, if you have the prims don’t skimp on trees, go with Alirium!!

I got the notice this last week of a new collection at Collabor88 and I jetted over mostly in hopes of a brand new furniture set, but this amazing Cheeky Pea Hammock set is just perfect. I am never disappointed with Cheeky Pea and mesh furniture is by far the best!!! I also got the mesh bedroom set called Georgie (I got the adult version and all I can say is Isla Gealach you rock!!! Isla has the perfect eye for textures and making things look lived in and not generically new. The animations are awesome, there are couples animations too. I am looking forward to some summer time days inworld right here enjoying my little bit of SL heaven.

FATEeyes

FATEeyes are a new revolution of eye customization coming from Damien fate and will be hitting the grid tomorrow. FATEeyes are mesh and can be worn by avatars of any size because they are easily resizeable. They are customizable in 5 different areas: the iris, pupil, sclera, veins and shine effect. But, what I really love about these eyes are the pupils, they dilate at random intervals, just like real eyes. Each part of each eye can be separately tinted and textured, and you can create and save your own presets.

I went ahead and created a video that shows me playing around with the eyes a bit and going in depth into the hud, etc… I thought it would be fun to do since it’s impossible to capture the awesomeness of these eyes with just one image. I feel like I am wearing a sugary, sweet confection in this fabulous pink and white ombre dress from Nyu. Nyu is a relatively new store, but one with well-developed fabrication and texturing skills which are evident in this fun and stylish dress. It is the donation item for the Ashraya Project and so is the fabulous posing chair from Behavior Body. Coming in several bright candy colors, the chair is a striking addition to your decor. Even better, it’s full of unique poses and mirrors. The chair is exclusive to the Ashraya Project. There’s no lag at the event, so your shopping will be easy and lag-free.

I adore this laid back pose. Like many pose props, it comes with an adjustment script to make it fit every shape. Just type /1a the chat line and you can adjust on the x, y and z axes for a perfectly placed pose. This pose shows of the fun tights from Izzie’s that I added. With their own subtle gradient, I loved how they look with the dress.

The shoes are Baiastice’ Etienne pumps. I loved the party pose from the chair and snapped a fun, low-angle shot inspired by the pose. I didn’t shoot all 30 poses in the Behavior Body pose chair, but I did get quite a few more if you want to take a look, check out the Flickr set.

Perhaps my favorite detail of the dress is the asymmetric treatment of the bodice and the lovely half collar. The jewelry is from Maxi Gossamer, a gorgrous opalescent pink set that came with three lengths of necklace. I left the longest one off because I like the way the neckline frames the necklaces and a longer one would fall below that frame. All of the Maxi Gossamer jewelry is mesh, so it usually wears flawlessly.

Here you can see the necklace and earrings more closely. The chic modern cut is from Exile and the skin and makeup is from PXL Creations. I love the glossy lipsticks in this new Kate skin line. I am trying out some new eyes from IKON and love how natural they look.

Culture Shock I can just say that I love you! As I told you in my last blogposts this amazing events is raising money for Médecins Sans Frontieres. I am wearing this amazing hair from Magpie, I tinted it a tiny bit to make it match my outfit, but other then that I love it. I love hairs with hats attached because it is way less work to make it fit… Yes I am lazy… Oh and some good news, this hair is actually a gift at Culture Shock, so be sure to check it out. (not sure if this colour is a gift too *blush*)

sometimes, a girl just needs a dress…

..or two.

i am *not* the girliest girl, not by a long shot, but i can appreciate a dress every now && then. my taste in dresses is usually less.. ruffly and “lady like” and, rather, more… well.. less is more. so i decided to put together two looks for today, built around two short mesh dresses i’ve picked up this last week in world.

the first is from paper doll, which is out for stumblebum this round. it’s skin tight, *just* short enough, and comes in some lovely color choices.. including this fading white-to-pink one i chose to wear here. li’l dresses like this are perrrr~fect for the upcoming warmer months && look just as nice with a pair of high heeled pumps as it would with, say… a pair of wedge sandals and some sunglasses. plus since it’s stumblebum, that means it’s *discounted* (25% off, to be exact!)… which always makes dress shopping that much more enjoyable~

and speaking of discounts… this month’s round of collabor88 rolled over a few days ago. collabor88 is one of my *favorite* sales events and this month’s collection really bowled me over. there were so many cute things there this go ’round, it was honestly a li’l overwhelming! but i *did* manage to snag a few things amidst my bewilderment, including this dress i’m wearing here, from boom. which, tbph, is actually labeled as a long, baggy t-shirt… but to me? it looks like an adorable cotton minidress.. and worked rather well that way (but remember to wear panties, i’m *just* sayin’! ).

the earrings i’m wearing in both looks are also out @ collabor88, from intrigue co. the dangly charms are shaped like unicorns… unicorns(!!).. and come in sets that were made to mix && match colors. i probably didn’t pick the perfect hairstyle to show these earrings off (but i could not resist wearing this insanely cute style from ploom that i grabbed at culture shock), so you’ll just have to take my word for it. oooorrrr go try the earrings yourself to see! really, really cute.. and i did mention they were unicorns, right? because they are! unicorns!

Looking Good while Doing Good Has Never Been so Easy

Looking good while doing good has never been so easy. There are two huge multi-week events raising funds for great charities. I have talked a lot about Culture Shock and the work of Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders) and wanted to pass on the news that the script gate has been removed now that the first flush of heavy traffic has subsided.

Today, however, I want to mention the other event – The Ashraya Project to raise funds for Ashraya, an Indian charity that works with women and children, providing shelter and support to women and children who are poor, abandoned or survivors of abuse. Tutorial – Editing Jewelry When You Cannot See It

I love Boom’s fabulous pastel ombre backless tees at Collabor88. The come in all shades of pastel and are as fresh as springtime. Before choosing this jewelry from Bliensen & Maitai, I tried on several other options, a couple of them falling so deep into my torso they were not even visible. This made me think it might be useful to share a few tricks for dealing with that dilemma.

There are a few options, some people try to cam inside the body and select the jewelry. I find that so frustrating because sometimes I can see the prim to select and SL will not let me select it because there’s another prim in the way. I used to go to edit mode and make my shape short, raise the necklace over my head and then restore my shape again. Not my favorite options. There are easier ways to do it.

This is pretty easy to do. As you can see, the jewelry is not visible. I go to the Develop Menu and under Rendering, select Wireframe. This makes all visible. This is handy when you are trying to find your posestand under a rock or other prim as well. Once it’s selected, I can edit it. I usually use the arrows to edit, but sometimes I use the XYZ axis controls for more control of small adjustments.

Another easy option is to open your inventory window and select the option and right-click and choose Edit. Again, you can edit with the arrows or the XYZ Axis controls.

I added some tights from Tulip that I looked for on Marketplace. Speaking of Marketplace, my eyes melted when I entered tights in the search window. I have no idea why that brought up a bunch of attachable peens, but that’s marketplace for you, the library of unreliable search results. It’s lamentable that browsing is a more effective method of looking for something than search.

Could I have chosen more perfect shoes. The feather can be turned off, but the feather is perfect! I love these boots with tights. They seem designed to show off tights.

Well, after all that, I must feature this gorgeous set from Bliensen & Maitai. It’s called Suzi Q and comes in three options. This one is called Glow. The hair is from Dura and the skin is PXL Creations’ gorgeous Kate with eye shadow and lip tattoos.

This is a quickie, drive-by post with two pictures and a few words. Sometimes that’s all you need to get the job done. The skin is from Glam Affair and I truly adore it, it’s unusual for me to find one that I’ll wear constant. The hair is from ploom, the jeans are a hunt gift from Aura. while searching for a pretty, spring-time sim to snap some pictures on, bff vivi && i stumbled upon a gorgeous place called calas galadhon. there were so many li’l spots to sneak a sweet, romantic moment (tandem bike rides.. a hot air balloon!).. and lots of places perfect for taking photographs.. that she and i *totally* felt the love in the air~

shame it was just with my best friend! ;P

at least she and i looked pretty! ehe.

well, we always look pretty.. but still. ahah.

vivienne and i both *really* loved the latest mesh releases from cold logic.. so much so that we both decided to wear tops from the newest set. hers, with the cut-out sleeves and low neckline, is in stunning shades of coraly pink, soft peach && pastel yellow.. all swirled together in a pattern that looks very much like it’s all been water marbled.

she paired the top with a pair of pastel mesh jeans from maitreya in the prettiest baby pink… as well as *two* grabs from the culture shock event — her hair, from exile && her shoes (which were freebies!) from g field. lovely in pink, with accents of yellow.. my bestie is covered head-to-toe in springtime shades and looking fabulous in it~

i, too, was feelin’ the yellow for today.. only instead of pink, i liked the color contrast of this perfect bright blue with it. as i said, my top is from cold logic as well && i *loved* the way this layered top drapes at the waist. it’s flowy and feminine and this color combo really stood out to me.. all of which make for an adorable top that’s easily one of my favorites released thus far.

so i grabbed a pair of mesh white shorts from jane to match.. and a pair of platform sandals from slink, a golden tasseled necklace from glow studio (that’s discounted @ the dressing room blue!) && a soft, side-swept hairstyle from lelutka completed the look.

of course, i had a blast roaming the sim with my bff… but just look at how wonderfully built && landscaped it is. as cheesy as it sounds, it would be *perfect* for a sl date night… *hint hint*… but is just as lovely for some quiet exploration by yourself~

Mixing Mesh

In my quest to find mixable mesh, I have found a few allies. Two of them, Eboni Khan of Hucci and Drinkenstein Sorbet of The Sea Hole, are featured in today’s post. What makes them an ally? Producing tops and skirts as separates so I can experiment with them in different looks beside the singular one they envision. This gives me the movement and texture depth and resolution of mesh and the flexibility and creativity in styling of system clothing – the best of both worlds.

I started with the Shogun mesh skirt from The Sea Hole – available at Truth District. It comes in six colors and is such a feminine design with its soft spring pastels. I love everything about it. It comes with a coordinating top that is adorable, but I have my reputation as a pixel prude to maintain. Luckily for me, though, I saw a great top, also from The Sea Hole at Collabor88 yesterday. It came with a coordinating skirt, but I liked the idea of wearing it with this skirt and sure enough. It works beautifully and the colors coordinate so well.

Eboni Khan released a pastel rainbow of skirts, tops and sweaters at Collabor88 and I picked up a few. I was most excited by the sweater because I like layering and wanted to find a good mesh sweater. This is a win in every department. One of my peeves with mesh clothing is that too often, creators don’t texture the inside thinking no one sees it, well we all know that’s not true. It’s one thing if they paint it all black so it looks in shadow. That’s believable, but more than I like to admit, the inside is often alpha and that’s just weird. It’s like they have Harry’s cloak of invisibility tucked inside. But look at this sweater, not only is it textured inside, but it even has a clothing label. How cute is that!

I tossed on the elegant Delphines pumps from Shiny Things. One of the comments on this Flickr picture said thanks for reminding her of Shiny Things and I had to laugh because I had forgot about Shiny Things myself. I tried about about ten pairs of shoes trying to get one that looked right and then scrolling up and down trying to think who to try next, I noticed the Shiny Things folder and thought how long it’s been and decided to peek and found a winner on my first try.

I wanted feminine jewelry, so my first thought was Undefined Lilies. Her work has a sweet tender quality that I thought would be a perfect complement to the outfit. I aadded this curly hair style from Dura, tinted to give it a bit of red. I generally add a light coral tint on top of the sienna to get this color.

Everything was shot at the exquisite Neva River using their own region windlight settings.

Prepare to Be Amazed

The Magician’s Assistant is not only a fabulous book by Ann Patchett, but an occupation you can explore in Second Life. Most magician’s assistants were showgirl costumes with bodysuits, sequins and fishnets, but I went for a more practical and elegant solution with a gorgeous, low-cut jumpsuit from R.icielli for Culture Shock. Part of the role of a good magician’s assistant is to draw the eye, and with this much cleavage, the eyes will be drawn.

For our first trick, we have the mysteriously missing torso. That’s just a warm-up, though, for the next trick that shifts the torso to the side before making it disappear. Now if only we can pull a rabbit out of that hat.

These tricks show the practicality of a good jumpsuit – not only is it eye-catching and gorgeous, but it’s made for the bending, flexing and outright disappearing that is expected of all magician’s assistants.
