I was contemplating purchases of new skins, one from a line I have long loved and one from an established line I’ve never worn. I just couldn’t pay $1,000L for something that didn’t look astonishing. So I fished out my only Laqroki skin, which I wore twice, went with a blonde hairdo for a change, and added makeup until I didn’t recognize Portia. Mayfly’s new shadow version of the mesh Monet Dawn eyes gives this look a much needed twist. The unusual pose is from la petite morte’s Editorial Headshots set, which is available through April 30 at Pose Fair.

I’ve been eyeing Tokidoki’s perfect mesh capris, so I was thrilled when Maya Levane gave her VIP group a pair in a stunning shade of pale blue. Portia’s Imbue tee-shirt is so simple, but the pattern gives it a very flattering shape.

I was imagining that I’d like to work in an office like this, and then I realized I’d have to look as good as my surroundings. So it’s best that I stay in my present place of employment, the basement of a brutalist shack, where I look fabulous because I am neither made of concrete nor covered in acoustics enhancers. P.S. The new Karmen bag from Fleshtone is so beautifully textured—and comes in such delicate colours—that you have probably been licking blog pictures all week. I don’t blame you. I paired the new bag with an older dress by Nylon Outfitters that taps into the current colourblock trend. Note that I couldn’t resist the ombre pack of Laviere’s new Astris hair. I keep telling myself that in three months time I will regret buying all these colourblombred stuffies. But I get such a kick out of these strange versions of multicolourism.

Many recent skin releases have looked hideorrendous on Portia. So I decided that I will simply make her over whenever necessary. The skilled bloggers say they tweak their avs. I practically rearranged Portia’s face, all for the love of LpD’s new Sabrina skin, which I was determined to get on my girl. I wanted her to look kinda ordinary, like a B-list actress from the 1930s, instead of super glamorous or cartoony. I did have to do some post-production to hide the flaws in her face, but that was mostly a matter of shrinking her jowls, not repainting the skin. Then I saturated the colour and added a filter, because I decided that sometimes it has to be okay to try to capture the spirit of the skin, not just stick to the letter. Did I do wrong?

It’s been a long week. I had to do some overnights in the small town where I teach. On the first night, stranded in the hotel on campus, where one can’t get food after 5PM, I found myself too tired to walk to town to eat and unable to log in to SL for the first time in ages. I think I spent most of the evening trying to log in and finally gave up and fell asleep early. Since then, I’ve been out of fashion sorts and taking pix that turn good outfits bad. I don’t know where Portia would go in this outfit, but I do recommend everything she’s wearing. The ghoulicious I Was a Queen jewels from h.m.a.e.m. come in gold and silver versions, and the earrings are resizable in case you want bigger bling. I found out that CStar is doing a monthly horoscope-themed gacha when I spied this oddball Miss Taurus skin on another blogger. There are about eight winnable versions of the skin, half with a black body, half regular. And there’s also a shape. The gacha starts at 1L and increases 1L every day, so this month’s skin was priced at 14L today, and last month’s Miss Aries skin was still a steal at 44L. The Miss Aries skin comes with a set of completely straight eyebrows, which are a rare thing in SL, and in RL, for that matter, so you may want to invest just for the opportunity to make your av look sad.
