Culture Shock Without Borders

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Culture Shock is bearing down on you with the force of 1000 Fashionistas all clamoring to get in, to get the new, the exclusive and while they are at it, do a little good by donating to Medecins Sans Frontieres. That’s Doctors Without Borders to you non Francophiles.

As a Second Life community of shoppers, clubbers, gesturetards and so called fashionistas, we are a global community of privilege. Even the most broke ass of us seems to have a reliable high speed internet connection with which to connect to our pixel life and live out whatever our fantasy du jour is. (Mine is to be blonde and skinny. Please catch up.)

What I love most about our events that are charitable in nature, is that by just being our happy pixel selves and doing what we love (shopping) we have the ability to impact others. In this instance, rather than just donating to a charity we are actually making viable impact in others lives by supporting this group.

We are saving the lives of people who have only their first life to entertain them, and it’s usually a damn bit harder than any of ours. We are saving the lives of children who are loved by their parents, and families who will never know the luxury that even the poorest of us on the grid take for granted.

If I am a little preachy this morning, it’s because I believe in fact, that this is one of the finest charities in the world. You have the power to make a difference in the lives of others.

coldLogic Makes Me Shiver

Newness from coldLogic and I, of course dug out the black for my first pose of this new release. This whole outfit is love, so it’s hard to find where to start. The top and the pants are part of the new release at coldLogic. I’m loving the double layer top and the pants are quite form fitting.The trousers come in six different colors and all the standard sizes and the Somers top also comes in six colors and multiple sizes, but be sure to check demos, just in case! The shoes I have on here are from Lelutka and are still my favorite after all this time. I really need to find something new to replace them. The bangles and rings are from Red Mint and the hair is from Alice Project. I’m wearing a choker from Chop Zuey, but I don’t believe it shows well. More Culture Shock sneak peeks today (I remembered to write that one right!) plus a new ColdLogic release! And yes, in a weird turn of life, I like yellow these days!

I have busy times ahead (finals), but since I noticed that today was my blog anniversary, I figured that I should make a post saying so. Nothing I am wearing is actually new, except for the earrings. I quickly added them in as a final touch. Anyway, so I have seen so many wear this hair, but I didn’t want to wear it until I had the pose, and outfit set to use it.

Hello hello chickadees! I have some very exciting news for you! I was invited to blog Culture Shock 2012 and give you a sneak peak at some of the goodies that you’ll be able to pick up! This is the second year of Culture Shock, a CHIC Management event sponsored by MODAVIA Productions with proceeds going to Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders). Last year, over $1 million linden was raised!

Every store has a mandatory participation of one NEW and EXCLUSIVE (for the duration of the event) item that gives 50 – 100% of the profits to the charity!

Culture Shock will be up and running May 4th through May 26th. Please keep in mind that there is a script gate at the landing point. Only 50 scripts or less must be worn in order to enter the event to help reduce lag.

“It isn’t summer without a festival, right? How about a festival brought to you by makeup brands you know and love?” This statement is one I agree with totally, I love a good rock festival, unfortunately I won’t be able to go to one this year but this is the next best thing… A SHOPPING FESTIVAL… Make-up Festival, the festival of beauty, this location hosts 11 make-up designers to throw a splash of colour over your faces and give you the little bit of glitz your new outfit may have been lacking!

FaMESHed is dedicated to all mesh items from home and garden to clothing, accessories, footwear, etc. This has an amazing set of designers which include [Gos], Exile, The Loft, Cracked Mirror, Aura, HANDverk, and Mon tissu to name a few but there are so many more great designers. Triple Shot: faMESHed, Stumblebum & The Summer Beauty Festival

In case you didn’t know faMESHed, Stumblebum, and The Summer Beauty Festival are three events that kicked off, or in the case of Stumblebum renewed with fresh goodies, on May 1st. At some point over the next 2 or 3 weeks. I’ll give each event their own post, but I wanted to give a sample of what is available at all three events.

Aura is participating in both faMESHed and Stumblebum. The Class Act Jeans are available at faMESHed. I am not usually a fan of bell bottom jeans but I think these are just too cute. I love the texturing and the little pattern on the side. These jeans also make me very happy that waxing is not necessary in SL. The Class Act Jeans leave very little margin for error. The Boho Ruffle Tops are available in seven colors for Stumblebum, and are discounted 25% off during the duration of this round.
