Night Swimming
It occurred to me recently that since I am no longer land locked on mainland, I should not only spend time looking at the water, but actually in the water since that was a huge part of my attraction for moving.
So last night I opened my deck doors and jumped into the lagoon for no other reason than I could.
STELLAR has released several new swimsuits and if you know me, you know I do like a more modest approach to my SL swimwear, this tankini is exactly the sort of thing I love. Classic styling and sexy without letting all my bits out for noobs to see.
Noobs love to see bits.
Swimming at night was a perfect way to wind down and settle into my place that I think of as new still. It’s peaceful there and breathe slower and sleep harder. I love it.

Despertar en Second Life.
Hace unos días, cuando revisaba las noticias en SL me topé con una de The Sea Hole. Se trataba del anuncio de su nueva falda mesh, de motivos orientales, que se acompaña con un top a juego, las dos piezas se venden por separado, a 137L$ y 87L$. Me llamó la atención lo suficiente como para ir a echarle un vistazo más de cerca.
Pero, una vez allí en la tienda, después de probarme las demos, y encontrar que los mesh se ajustan cada vez mejor a mi shape, no pude resistirme y en lugar de traerme la falda que fui a buscar, llegué de vuelta a mi SL hogar con un nuevo pijama.
Y es que, quién no ha cerrado SL dejando a su avi reclinado en un sillón, tumbadito en un sofá, toalla de playa, banco, tumbona o cama dispuesto a dormir un buen rato ? Yo había cerrado así el día anterior… y qué le voy a hacer si Aloma estos días está más para relajarse en casita en pijama y calcetines o echarse una siesta…. Dormir acurrucada susurrando: good dreams mientras mordisquea su nuevo colgante…. y luego despertarse con los rayos de sol. Si el despertar de un avi se pudiese escenificar igual que las siestas, si duda el mio sería así.

I was thrilled to be able to pair the mesh pants from MiaMai with the mesh tank from JANE. Finding pieces that work together, particularly from different stores, is often a chore. One of the great things about the top from Jane is that it offered a regular and wide hem. With the regular hem, the pants bled through in the back, but with the wide hem, the top stayed on the outside like it was supposed to. This gave me all the pleasure in having mesh that moved and looked good from all angles. The print pants from MiaMai are so rich and elegant – and your purchase supports the work of Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders (MSF).
One of the countries where they are working is Chad where lack of rain has led to poor harvests and famine. Food prices are 25% higher than last year. There’s also a water shortage and people wait as much as seven hours to get water. Imagine trying to get your ordinary tasks done if you had to wait seven hours just to get water. Of course, hunger begets disease because we need food to fight infection and so now measles and meningitis have broken out.
MSF is hoping to vaccinate 640,000 people there. According to the World Health Organization, a meningitis vaccine costs aid organizations $0.50. So while you think your purchases are too small to matter, consider that around 130 lindens spent at Culture Shock will buy one vaccine – a vaccine that protects for ten years. So when you are spending your lindens, instead of counting how much you spend, count how many vaccines you buy.
I just had to add these fabulous red pumps from Baiastice – the Etienne pumps. She also has some great pumps at Culture Shock called Santigold. The orange and Baudelaire pattern pumps are on sale for MSF. Besides, they are gorgeous!
WTG Jewelry has a magnificent set of jewelry, including bracelets, earrings and necklace. The set is called Dignity – something that MSF treats its patients with in all parts of the world.
Glam Affair has a special set of special makeups and tones for the recent Giselle skin release that are released to raise funds at Culture Shock. This is one of them. The hair is from Dura, though as always with Dura hair, I have tinted it to add some red.

Other than that, I don’t have much to say… today’s been a rather long and trying day. I will say this, though… Life is so short, and spending any time wasted… is a foolish move. Yesterday i went to explore Mayfair, the first all mesh sim in SL and i liked it so much i decided to take a few snaps. So, what else do you need when you have a beautiful location and you’re in the mood for some niiiiiice pictures? You need appropriate clothes and accessories to match the coolness of the place, of course!
And i knew what to wear.

coldLogic recently released a gorgeous mesh top which is simply perfect: i love everything about it, the textures, the way it fits, its softness, its style. That’s what i mean when i think of mesh in SL. I’ve got something similar in RL, it’s a style i really dig, and i would also like that top (THAT one, not something similar!) in RL too 
I matched the top with some awesome trousers from Diapop and i think they go really well together.
And then came the bag. Well, the bag with the pose(s).
Miamai released the fantastic Traveller set for Culture Shock, it’s a set of 10 poses and it includes two mesh bags to fit them! Woohoo!
The skin is Giselle from Glam Affair, a m a s t e r p i e c e. Yeah, it is. *Loving it soooo much*
Hair is Kamiko from Wasabi Pills, another great mesh hairstyle.

Gardening But Not At Night
I am still settling in to my new place, living in smaller quarters with the ocean as my yard is taking a little getting used but I admit, I kind of like it.
Trompe Loeil released a gorgeous couple of sets of patio furniture recently and now that I’m getting settled in to sorting out my living arrangements, I thought that this set fit exactly for my new deck.
I have to admit that I settled on this set for my deck because it smacked of when we’d visit people with a nice lanai or deck, and they always had gorgeous wrought iron furniture, made to last with a great constructed look.
And those overalls were a great find that I picked up from Siss Boom that I discovered after sifting through Blogging Second Life. Which kind of excited me because YAY for cute new things right?
It’s perfect for my new place. So who wants to come over and sit on it?

C is for Chantkare at Culture Shock
I love the fab retro print in this great dress from Chantkare for Culture Shock. It makes me think of the fun prints that were such a hallmark of the late 60s and the 70s. It’s a dress that could be worn by characters in this season of Mad Men. I shot the dress at a brand new sim. How new you ask? It opened on Friday!
It’s called Neva River and I predict you will be seeing many photos shot there as there are many charming set pieces that are perfect for taking pictures.
I added the fun new pumps from Baiastice. The red ones are a donation item at Culture Shock as well. Speaking of Culture Shock, did you know that Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders) also has programs in France? There they work to help asylum seekers, many of whom have been traumatized by civil war or persecution and who need medical and psychological help as they seek to find their ground. People with irregular status have difficulty accessing health care and MSF steps up to help.
Frankly, denying health care to people with irregular status whether undocumented immigrants or asylum seekers who have not yet been granted asylum is bad for all of us. Left untreated, illnesses like flu, hepatitis and tuberculosis can spread from person to person quickly and an illness that begins in an immigrant community and is allowed to flourish without treatment is not going to care about anyone’s national status when jumping from host to host. With infectious diseases, it’s a short-sighted policy to deny access to health care to anyone, but those policies are politically popular even if they are foolhardy. In France, MSF steps into the breach.
I wore Giselle, the new skin from Glam Affair and a short cut from Dura along with jewelry from Mandala that could have been made to order for this dress. The Omochi necklace and earrings are magnificent. I wanted to fat pack them so much, but I am saving my pennies for Culture Shock.

E is for E!, Echo and Essential
Essential is the word for Médecins Sans Frontières MSF (Doctors Without Borders) who, because they are independent of any government agenda, go where they are needed without fear or favor. One of the places they go is Cameroon where they provide critical work fighting drug resistant HIV, Buruli ulcers and cholera. You can help support this work with an expedition to Culture Shock.
One of the complaints my friends from Africa have voiced is that too often, all we hear from Africa is war, famine and disease. We don’t hear about the vibrant culture and the joy of Africa. A Cameroonian poet Emmanuel Fru Doh wrote about this in his poem Telling Africa. I think it is important that while supporting this essential work of MSF, we remember that the people they serve are more than their diseases, that they have a rich cultural tradition and a long history. That link will take you to a collection of Cameroonian poetry – a small window into the wider panorama of life there.
One of my complaints about mesh is the difficulty of mixing pieces from different creators. I had no trouble, though, mixing this skirt from Echo with the top from Eclectic Apparel. I added colorful leggings recently released by MiaMai and some boots from Leverocci. I am using the new scaffolding pose prop from Status, Gidge’s pose store. It’s available at Culture Shock along with the skirt and top.
The scaffolding fit in so well at Virtual Decay, I just had to shoot it there.
The earrings and ring are from Miao for Disco Deals – which is a too-short event so you better hurry over there right away. The hair is from Exile for Culture Shock and I know I wore it yesterday. I love it!
